Having said that, equipment does matter, especially when recording in conditions that have background noise. How does it work?
Happy Scribe is an online software that speeds-up the transcription process by using Automatic Speech Recognition engines. The application of our technology can range from transcribing a journalistic interview to captioning online content and Happy Scribe is the perfect tool to leverage the power of transcription. Once you have successfully created your account and confirmed your email address, you'll be redirected to your dashboard.
What file formats are accepted?

How long do you keep my data?
All the data submitted to Happy Scribe is saved with no time limitation. You can access your transcript without any time limitation. Note that you keep full control on your data! You can delete both the text and the audio directly from your personal dashboard. How do we secure your data?

What is the turnaround?
What is the turnaround ? It usually takes half the time of the audio length. For example if your file is 30 minutes long, we will transcribe it within 15 minutes. It can be a bit longer if it's a video file.
How can I cut/trim my file?
You may want to trim your file before uploading it for different reasons: You only want to transcribe a part of your recording A part of the recording is just blank etc ... To trim your file, you can use the following services: Online: AudioTrimmer On your desktop: Quicktime VLC
How to upload a file?
The uploading process is very straight forward. To upload a audio or a video file, click on Upload a new file and follow this process: To select your file, click on "Select the file". Happy Scribe accepts most audio and video formats, you can find the full list here. Then, select the language in which the file has been recorded from the drop list. How to delete a transcript?
On your personal dashboard, find the transcript that you want to delete and click on the 3 blue dots on the right side of the screen. In the drop down window which appears, click on 'Delete'. You will be asked if you are sure you want to delete the file. If yes, press 'Ok'. Otherwise press 'Cancel'.
How do I delete my account?
Although it pains us to lose a member of our Happy Scribe community, we understand that sometimes you need to delete your account so here's how to do it. Why is my file locked?
When your file is locked, it means that you do not have enough minutes to get it transcribed. In that case, you have two options. I did not receive the autorisation email!
If you haven't received your authorisation email, please follow these steps : First, check your spam folder. Sometimes Happy Scribe emails end up in your Spam folder so check there first. Is it possible to transcribe a file that has multiple languages in it?
From time to time you may record an interview where the interviewer and the interviewee are speaking different languages. Unfortunatly in that case, Happy Scribe is only able to transcribe one language per transcription.
Do you do verbatim transcript?
Happy Scrive doe not provide verbatim transcript. However, you have the option to add the verbatim using our interactive Editor. Learn how the Editor works here.
How to upload a file from Google Drive?
If you have your file stored on Google Drive, connect Happy Scribe to your Google account to retrieve the files that you want to get transcribed. When you upload the exact same file to Happy Scribe, our system recognises it and you will not be charged a second time. We don't believe that is fair to charge twice for the same upload and we promise to charge you twice. If you think that you were charged twice, get in touch at email@example.com
Is there a maximum file size limit?
We do not limit the size of the files which you can upload to Happy Scribe. From very small to very large, you are free to upload any size file you want. If you are uploading a very large file to Happy Scribe, there is a step you can take to make it even smoother. Upload your file first to Google Drive and then upload your file to Happy Scribe. I forgot my password!

How to use My Vocabulary?
My Vocabulary allows you to create a custom vocabulary to better transcribe technical terms, company names or your even your cat’s nickname! There are two important steps to remember when using Happy Scribe's My Vocabulary. 1. Add your vocab before uploading your file. It is important that you add your vocab before you upload so that our system knows to add your new words
. What is My Vocabulary? My Vocabulary is Happy Scribe's tool which allows you to build a custom list of 100 words for even more accurate transcripts. Ok, I like the idea. But why should I use it? Well it is especially useful if your files contain specific technical, medical or legal terms. Also it really helps if your audio or video contains acronyms or brand names.
